I started with my blog. It was the easiest for me and the one channel I was most curious about. I love to write so it’s working out very well. Now that I have the blog up and running, I now link my blog posts to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn so that when a new post comes out, it gets posted to all of those places as well. Common strategy, very effective.

The last blog I worked on was to support a podcast. My newest launch uses a blog as the primary method to connect with my target audience. When my primary method was using a podcast, I was able to start the blog with only an introductory post and then post to the blog as I released a podcast. I added a few posts between podcast but since I was using the podcast as my primary communication method, I didn’t feel a need to pre load the blog with posts before the site’s launch. Now I’m wondering how many posts I should write before promoting the blog. I’m having the same dilemma with my Twiiter feed. With all the spam accounts on Twitter, I know I tend to not follow anyone that only has a couple of tweets. I feel like I should have at least 10 or so posts to Twitter before I even start to interact.

Keith,
I think you only really need a few posts before you promote a blog — just enough to show that you are going to post frequently. Twitter — I’d say ten posts is a good number, like you mentioned.
