It goes without saying that Tom Peters and Seth Godin are amongst today’s most respected business leaders. In a recent forum for business owners, they talked about a number of interesting topics including online marketing.
I just watched a brief video clip (1 m 37 s) where they shared impassioned thoughts about what they consider to be the most powerful marketing tool available to businesses today. What is this tool?
Blogging. Here are a couple of excerpts from their thoughts on blogging.
- Tom Peters: “I will simply say…no single thing in the last 15 years professionally has been more important to my life than blogging…it’s the best damn marketing tool by an order of magnitude that I’ve ever had. And it’s free.”
- Seth Godin: The process of blogging, the effect it has on you and the thought process it takes you through is just as important as how many people read your blog.
What do you think?
- How has blogging impacted your life?
- Are you holding back from using this powerful marketing tool? If so, what concerns do you have?
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Thanks for tipping me off to this great, little clip.
Apart from (as you knew we would) marveling at Godin’s glasses (and a momentary likeness to Frank Purdue), I was excited to hear them speak with such conviction about blogging. I was particularly impressed that neither was focused entirely on the professional or monetary aspects of blogging, but spoke of the internal process – what it means to commit to the process of blogging. Nicely put!
